Braised Whiskey Onions

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 large onions, cut in slices about 2-inch thick
  • 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon finely ground black pepper (or to taste)
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 cup Bourbon

 

Directions:


  1. Combine oil and butter in a heavy saucepan.
  2. Heat together over high heat until butter is melted.
  3. Add onions and cook for about 2 minutes.
  4. Add salt, pepper, and broth.
  5. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer about 10 minutes.
  6. Add Bourbon and cook until the sauce is slightly reduced.
